Barcelona sit top of La Liga with 66 points from 29 matches. They have won 21, drawn three and lost five.

Hansi Flick’s team are on a winning streak of nine in La Liga and are 21 matches unbeaten in all competitions.

On Wednesday, the Catalans defeated Atletico 1-0 at the Metropolitano in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final. The win sealed a 5-4 aggregate win and booked Barca’s place in the final against bitter rivals Real Madrid.

The win was their second over Diego Simeone’s team in recent weeks. Barca also beat their title rivals 4-2 on Matchday 28 in the final fixture before the March international break.

The comeback win over Atletico in the league felt like a pivotal moment. Away from home, Barcelona were 2-0 down and looking set for a rare defeat.

The comeback ensured the Catalans went into the international break on a high. But it also landed a mighty blow in the race for the title, not just Atletico, but also Real, who would have been hoping to see Barcelona drop points.

Real Betis made some inspired signings in the January transfer window and their clever business has led Manuel Pellegrini’s team to the brink of qualifying for European football again.

A 3-1 home defeat to Alaves on Matchday 20 left the Andalusians sitting 12th in the table. It was their second defeat in a row after the winter break, and the Green-and-Whites’ season was in danger of imploding.

What has happened since has been remarkable. Betis have picked up 22 points from their next nine matches. A 2-2 draw with Athletic Club and a 3-2 defeat away to Celta Vigo are the only matches that Pellegrini’s team have failed to win.

Since the loss to Celta, the Green-and-Whites have gone on a six-match winning run. The most recent result in that run was a 2-1 win over Sevilla in the El Gran Derbi on Sunday.

The 36-year-old bagged a brace in the 4-1 win over Girona last weekend. He will be well rested and should start against Betis after starting the midweek Copa del Rey match on the bench.
