The San Francisco Giants are starting their 25th Major League Baseball season at Oracle Park on Friday with their home opener game against the Seattle Mariners. At 1:35 p.m. is the first home game in the Giants' 142nd season as a franchise, first based in New York and then in San Francisco starting in 1958.
‘Really Stupid Park’: SF commuters use Great Highway park-naming contest to ventSan Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie is expected to throw out the first pitch before the game and members of the 2000 Giants team -- the first to play at the waterfront ballpark now known as Oracle Park -- will be in attendance, including MLB career home run leader Barry Bonds and former manager Dusty Baker.
Oracle Park this season is unveiling new changes, including a newly renovated Coca-Cola bottle behind the left field bleachers that is now lit with a LED screen. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 12:45 p.m. in advance of pregame festivities. The Giants are 5-1 so far in the new season that started last week.
