FREDDIE Freeman has been moved to the injured list just one week into the season.
Thanks to an unfortunate accident in the shower, Freeman is being forced to sit out games.
The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman’s placement on the injured list is retroactive to Monday.
He hasn’t played since Saturday and was 3-12 on the season with two home runs and four RBI.
Freeman reportedly slipped in the shower at home during the Dodgers’ off day.
His wife was forced to drive him to the stadium where he received a three-hour treatment session.
He was able to drive himself back home after the treatment was over.
X-rays on the ankle showed no serious damage was sustained.
The injury is notable though as it was on the same ankle Freeman tweaked late last season.
He sprained his right ankle on a play at first base in September and showed clear signs of discomfort during the playoffs.
That discomfort appeared to disappear in the World Series though, as he homered four times and knocked in 12 RBI.
Freeman won World Series MVP for his performance.
After the Dodgers won the World Series, Freeman underwent debridement surgery in December.
That procedure removed loose bodies from his ankle to aid in the recovery.
Freeman is only on the 10-day injured list this time around, so it appears that it is more of a cautionary move than anything serious.
However, fans were baffled that Freeman suffered an injury while in the shower and shared their thoughts on social media.
“Feels like a 2k headline,” one fan said.
“Only Freddie hurts his ankle in the shower,” another fan said.
“Bro doesn’t even know how to take a shower,” a third fan said.
“The most baseball injury of baseball injuries,” a fourth fan said.
“How could this have happened?” a fifth fan said.
