The Grand National Festival at Aintree is in full swing and the second of three top-notch afternoons of action at the Merseyside venue will take place on Friday .
They race from 1.45-5-15 on day two , with four more Grade 1 races scheduled, including the Melling Chase where Jonbon will be seeking to atone for his Cheltenham disappointment.
Our three best bets for Aintree on Friday are below.

Aintree Day 2 tips
2.55 Aintree – Romeo Coolio – 6/5 3.30 Aintree – Jonbon – 4/7 4.05 Aintree – The King Of Prs – 18/12.55 Aintree – Romeo Coolio – 6/5
ROMEO COOLIO was third in the Supreme at Cheltenham last month, best of the rest behind Kopek Des Bordes and William Munny, and the Gordon Elliott inmate can pick up a chunk of compensation now.
He had a few of these behind in the Cotswolds, including Salvator Mundi in fifth, and it’s the Willie Mullins inmate that trades closest to him in the betting now.
He has plenty of ground to make up, however, and so Romeo Coolio is selected to uphold that Supreme form.
The front trio were much the best in that race and perhaps Jack Kennedy on Romeo Coolio was guilty of doing too much in the middle part of the contest, handing an advantage to the very talented front pair later.
That was also his first run since Christmas, so Kopek Des Bordes and William Munny were sharper, and the manner of his Leopardstown festive success means he’s still a very bright prospect for the Elliott team.
3.30 Aintree – Jonbon – 4/7
Another that played only a supporting role at Cheltenham, JONBON was perhaps the architect of his own downfall following a shuddering mid-race mistake that saw him dropped to the back of the Queen Mother Champion Chase field.
It’s hard to suggest he’d have beaten Marine Nationale in any case, but in the circumstances it was to his eternal credit that he got up for second spot under Nice de Boinville.
Prior to that Jonbon was easily the top two-mile chaser in Britain or Ireland this season and the Nicky Henderson inmate is 3-3 at Aintree, all at this meeting, including this race 12 months ago.
He had Protektorat behind in third that afternoon and given the disappointing defeat El Fabiolo suffered at Navan five weeks ago over this sort of trip, it requires a leap of faith to see him reversing placings with Jonbon from last year’s Celebration Chase at Sandown.
4.05 Aintree – The King Of Prs – 18/1
Gavin Cromwell enjoyed a dream Cheltenham Festival and he’ll be eyeing more big-race success on UK soil now.
THE KING OF PRS was well beaten in the Grand Annual but that’s the second year running that Cotswolds contest has proved too challenging.
He’d been showing further progress before that, with good runs at Fairyhouse and Leopardstown behind the likes of The Folkes Tiara and An Peann Dearg prior to scoring at Fairyhouse in January in the Grade 3 Dan & Joan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase off a mark of 130.
He’s 8lb higher but Conor Stone-Walsh takes 3lb off his back and if they take to these unique Aintree fences and get in a rhythm, the seven-year-old is interesting upped in trip.
