THE New York Giants have shown their commitment to Russell Wilson by giving the quarterback his favoured number.
Wilson left the Pittsburgh Steelers to join the Giants last month after becoming a free agent.
He signed a one-year deal with the New York team and is now set to earn a guaranteed $10.5million.
His total salary could reach $21m if he achieves certain incentives.
And it has now been revealed that he will wear the No3 jersey.
Russell has worn the No3 throughout his NFL career, dating back to his first season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012.
The quarterback takes the number from Deonte Banks, who has vacated it for his new team-mate.
Banks will instead wear the No2 jersey.
Wilson took to social media on Wednesday to publicly thank Banks.
He wrote: “Salute to my guy & young star Tae Banks!
“Grateful for you letting me wear #3 King! Full of gratitude.”
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has given the Giants an idea of what they can expect from Wilson.
He said: “Man, Russ is class in every way.
“He embraces all that comes with the job, formal and informal. They’ll get all of him.”
