MARRIED At First Sight star Eliot and Veronica had the mother of all clashes over his emotional letter.
After ditching his first bride Lauren on their honeymoon, Eliot was given a second chance to return to the E4 experiment.
Last week, he tied the knot again but this time with new bride Veronica, while Lauren also returned with groom Clint.
In last night’s confessional, Eliot said he wanted to “do his best to open up and be vulnerable” and shared a moment from his past.
“It’s a story I’ve never shared with anyone else, one of my most deep and harrowing memories,” he said to his new bride.
“It affected me so much as a child; it’s deeply personal.”
Eliot revealed that when he was nine-years-old, he found out his sister had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
He described the moment as feeling like it was “the end of the world, there was no hope”.
Eliot praised his father for being strong and “stoic” which changed his opinion and stuck with him.
He said: “I never want to be overwhelmed by emotion. Like everyone, I feel things, but I try to identify and understand the emotion, rather than be controlled by it.”
But Veronica was left unimpressed and said it was the “perfect opportunity” for him to share something meaningful about his past.
A devastated Elliot said: “I would love to know why my most painful memory is not enough for you. I poured my heart out.”
“I didn’t think I learnt anything from you,” Veronica said, to which Elliot responded, “maybe that is your inability to listen.”
Veronica then proceeded to storm out of the apartment after she repeatedly asked why he thought she was upset.
He admitted he wasn’t sure and wanted her to explain what the issue was.
She stressed she had learnt “nothing” about him and couldn’t assume how he felt just from the words on the letter, without him going into some depth.
He continued off-camera: “It’s hard to believe that just happened. I couldn’t imagine diminishing what is important to someone the way she just did.”
Some fans were appalled by Vernonia’s behaviour and could not believe they were siding with Eliot.
One viewer wrote: “If a man – any man – spoke to their wife the way Veronica is speaking to Eliot people would lose their minds. His sister was in a coma from being diabetic which is huge for a family and she’s belittling it. Get in the fucking bin you absolute troll.”
A second said: “Never thought I’d feel sorry for Elliot but wow she totally missed the point!”
“I can’t believe veronica has me on team Eliot right now,” a third echoed.
