FREDDIE Freeman faces a period on the sidelines for the Los Angeles Dodgers after a freak accident.
The World Series MVP missed Monday’s game against the Atlanta Braves.
And his manager Dave Roberts confirmed the injury news.
Freeman suffered the injury after slipping in the shower.
The incident happened while he was home last weekend.
The 35-year-old headed to the team facility Sunday for treatment.
But he was ruled out of Monday’s game after the ankle began swelling up.
“He had a little mishap entering the shower,” manager Dave Roberts said.
“Kind of swelled up a little bit.”
Freeman only had surgery on that ankle in December.
He sprained his ankle in September and was hampered in the post-season.
But he hit home runs in the first four games of the World Series.
The Dodgers took care of the Yankees in five games and Freeman was named World Series MVP.
He had surgery to remove loose bodies from his ankle earlier this year.
Dodgers manager Roberts was confident that Freeman wouldn’t miss an extended period.
“He feels he could go out there and play,” Roberts said.
“But just let him kind of recoup today and we’ll see how he is tomorrow.
“For the most part, he’s always kicking and screaming to play.”
Freeman, 35, is an eight-time All-Star during his career which began in 2010.
He spent his first 11 years with the Atlanta Braves and won the World Series there in 2021.
Freeman moved to the Dodgers the following year.
He captured his second World Series last year with the team as well as the MVP award for himself.
