This week is a lighter one in local government, with only a few scheduled meetings. The Pittsboro town board will kick things off with a budget discussion Monday morning; then the Carrboro Town Council and Orange County Board of Commissioners will each meet Tuesday evening, with agendas focused on transportation improvements and safety.
Here’s a rundown of local government meetings this week in Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties:
The Pittsboro Board of Commissioners meets Monday, March 31, at 10 a.m. in the Chatham Agriculture & Conference Center. It’s a special meeting to discuss the town’s budget: board members will receive a presentation on last year’s accomplishments and next year’s town goals; they’ll get a general budget overview from finance director Heather Meacham; and they’ll hear reports from each of the town’s departments. The Carrboro Town Council meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 1. Council members will receive an equity report from the town’s police department and vote on a pair of resolutions related to pedestrian and bicycle safety, part of the town’s “Vision Zero” action plan to eliminate traffic fatalities. Orange County Commissioners also meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 1. County manager Travis Myren will present his recommended 10-year capital improvement plan, and commissioners will work to determine a priority list for transportation projects so county staff can apply for state funding.
