Katie Thurston recently received some troubling news amid her ongoing cancer battle.
After being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in February, the former star of The Bachelorette revealed in a new Instagram video on Friday, March 28 that her cancer is now stage 4.

After transferring her medical care from a facility in LA to one in New York City, where she recently moved, Thurston, 34, underwent a PET scan, which detected spots on her liver that were "a little suspicious."
"Because of this, I did have to then do a liver biopsy to see if my cancer has spread," she explained. "After days of waiting, unfortunately I did find out today that my breast cancer has spread to the liver."
"It is fairly small, however, it does put me at stage 4."

Beginning next Friday, Thurston will be starting a new treatment plan, which will involve chemotherapy.
"I know stage four can sound very scary, and it can be," she said. "However, given that I am triple positive and the spots on my liver are fairly small and detected early, I feel very optimistic on my outcome."
"I'm very confident in the team at Columbia and I just wanted to share that update," the video concluded.
Thurston later provided her followers with more information on her Instagram Story, revealing that she is not at all scared about her future. While she might be a little "tired" and feeling some "pain," Thurston insisted that she is 100 percent "ready" to fight.
