(KRON) -- The Hayward Police Department said a driver faces weapons charges after officers pulled them over for a "simple stop sign violation."
San Jose police officers cleared in fatal shootingHayward PD said the driver had a suspended license, vehicle registration that expired in 2018 and an undisclosed warrant. Police said the individual also had their 5-year-old child in the front seat.
Police said a loaded gun was discovered in the trunk while the car was being towed.

Hayward police did not specify when and where the incident occurred.
In a post on Facebook, Hayward police wrote, "Reminder: In CA, firearms must be unloaded, locked up, and stored separately from ammo when transported. Shoutout to our officers for their thorough work and dedication to keeping the community safe!"
