Clive Revill, the villainous voice behind Emperor Palpatine in The Empire Strikes Back, has died. He was 94.
His daughter, Kate Revill, confirmed his passing to The Hollywood Reporter yesterday, March 26, revealing that he died on March 11 at the care facility he was residing in in Sherman Oaks, Calif.
The New Zealand native was battling dementia at the time of his death, according to his daughter.

Revill also lent his voice to other Star Wars characters in video games, and took on another mega-franchise role when he voiced Alfred the butler on Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, but his voice was replaced in the 2004 DVD release by Ian McDiarmid, who took on the character in Return of the Jedi and the following prequels.
He got his start when the famed Laurence Olivier invited him to study acting at his Old Vic Theatre School, later joining the Royal Shakespeare Company and starring on Broadway seven times, with his roles in 1961’s Irma la Douce and 1963’s Oliver! earning him Tony nominations.
His final project, according to IMDb, was The Queen of Spain, which starred Penélope Cruz.
In addition to Kate, he is survived by a granddaughter, Kayla.
