On March 24, Hamel participated in a public demonstration alongside the AI creation, during which he spoke with Somers' younger "AI twin."
“Meeting you was like a breath of fresh air,” the robot told him in a video shared by The U.S. Sun.
While sitting on a stool, Hamel asked the Somers robot if his name meant anything.
"Of course I do, Alan Hamel was my wonderful husband of 55 years," the AI replica eventually replied (the couple met in 1969, though they were not wed until 1977). "He's my partner in everything from life to love and we've shared so many beautiful memories together."

Hamel told the New York Post that the idea for the Sommers replica “absolutely did come from her.” He added, “She may have known her life was going to be shortened [after a lifelong battle with cancer].”

In the comments of a New York Post X update, fans were divided over Somers' "AI twin." Some thought it might be healing for Hamel.
One wrote, "Sad but if it gave him some peace it's kinda sweet."
Another agreed, sharing, "I think it's easy to point out what's wrong with this. However if it was your loved you'd probably feel differently. I know I would."
However, others were firmly against the concept.
One X user wrote, "Watch a little Black Mirror and then start saying 'NO' to this s--t. Creepy AF."
Someone else echoed, "Feels like an episode of Black Mirror."
A different X user shared, "I was widowed decades ago. There would be no way I could stand to look at an AI creation of my late first love first wife with her still being a young woman. I wouldn't be able to stand hearing her voice or hearing her laugh. I would cry buckets."
