ESPN is under fire for showing an “unnecessary” amount of footage of Juju Watkins’ injury.
Women’s college basketball star Juju Watkins suffered a knee injury in the second round of March Madness.
During a fast break against Mississippi, the USC star player appeared to injure her knee before falling to the floor.
She immediately grabbed her knee and started screaming in pain.
Watkins was carried to the locker room for further testing where it was revealed she tore her ACL.
Her season is now over and she will likely miss most of next season as well.
While all of this was occurring, ESPN cameras continued to roll and featured Watkins’ painful episode.
This prompted many fans and players to speak out about the network refusing to cut away from her.
“CAMERA PPL, STOP HOVERING OVER PLAYERS WHEN THEY ARE IN PAIN!!!!!,” Los Angeles Sparks star Dearica Hamby wrote on X.
“THIS and then replaying the injury SEVERAL times afterward,” a fan commented.
“Also replaying the injury. We got it. It’s unnecessary. It’s torturous. Not everything needs to be televised,” another fan said.
“At the game they did not play the replay or anything!! which is def the right thing to do,” a fan at the game pointed out.
“It’s absolutely disgusting when this happens… it happens in soccer too and I’ll never understand and then fans will even make edits and include these clips too,” a fourth fan said.
This isn’t the first time this season that ESPN has come under fire for showing an injury for too long.
During an NC State-Notre Dame game earlier this season, a fan in the stands suffered a medical emergency.
The situation was so dire that play had to be stopped for over 10 minutes to tend to the fan.
Throughout the emergency, ESPN cameras continued to show the fan being tended to in the stands.

THE 10 best players in the WNBA have been selected and named to the All-WNBA first and second team.
First team:
Caitlin Clark – Indiana Fever Napheesa Collier – Minnesota Lynx Breanna Stewart – New York Liberty Alyssa Thomas – Connecticut Sun A’ja Wilson – Las Vegas AcesSecond team:
Kahleah Copper – Phoenix Mercury Sabrina Ionescu – New York Liberty Jonquel Jones – New York Liberty Arike Ogunbowale – Dallas Wings Nneka Ogwumike – Seattle StormThe fan was eventually stretchered out of the arena and play was able to continue.
However, fans felt this was also inappropriate from ESPN and shared their thoughts on social media.
“I’m sorry @espn but if a fan is having a serious medical emergency in the stands maybe lets not put a camera on the medical staff attending to them?” one fan said.
“ESPN should not have a camera on the medical crew attending to the fan. Why was the fan being carried out in a stretcher broadcast nationally?” another fan said.
“Any update on this situation was the person able to get the medical attention they needed?!?!?” a third fan said.
