During the ceremony, McEntire shared a story about the first time she met Yearwood. It was at an afterparty for the ACM Awards back in the early ‘90s and she hung out with Yearwood and her mother.
"I sat there with you and I thought, 'I love her already because she's with her mom.' And your dry wit sense of humor won my heart," she said during the event on Monday, per Taste of Country.
McEntire went on to recount the friendship the two singers have shared over the years. "Our friendship throughout the years means the world to me because girls out on the road need a buddy," McEntire added.
"And we are in the country music business where girls stick together, we have fun together, we complain and gripe to each other because you can't do that with anybody else. Nobody else understands."
“The How Was I to Know” singer also revealed that Yearwood shared some kitchen pointers with her that made her a better cook. The two singers performed together last week at Opry 100: A Live Celebration at Grand Ole Opry.
Also honoring Yearwood at the Walk of Fame event were her husband and fellow country star, Garth Brooks, and fellow country crooner Carly Pearce.
