Mike Bibby has reportedly agreed to become the Sacramento State men’s basketball head coach, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Bibby, a Shadow Mountain High School alum, coached at his alma mater for six years from 2013 to 2019 and won four straight 4A state titles and a total of five championships during his six seasons.
He was removed after allegations arose that he sexually abused a teacher at Shadow Mountain High while he was the school’s coach.
Police subsequently did not find probable cause and Bibby did not face charges for the incident.
Bibby later spent part of a season coaching at Hillcrest Prep before a mutual parting of ways took place. He does not hold any prior coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level.
Sacramento State finished 7-25 during the 2024-25 season which placed the program 10th in the Big Sky. Bibby will replace interim head coach Michael Czepil. After former Sacramento State head coach David Patrick took the associate head coaching position at LSU in May 2024, Czepil was named interim head coach for the season.
