Rodgers had two disastrous years in the Big Apple and is now a free agent.

Staying in New York and playing for the Giants was one possibility for the four-time MVP.

The New York Giants announced a shock roster move over the weekend.

They signed free agent Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million contract.

But the team are still apparently interested in Rodgers, the New York Post reports.

The report states, “The Giants still want him (Rodgers) and will not close the door on him, even after the Winston signing.

“They did not feel comfortable waiting and waiting for Rodgers to make up his mind without adding an experienced quarterback.”

Rodgers could wait until after the NFL Draft to make his decision.

His preferred option was the Minnesota Vikings, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

But the team is committed to JJ McCarthy, who missed his entire rookie season injured.

Sam Darnold stepped in to replace him last year and had the best season of his career.

He cashed in by signing a three-year, $100 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Rodgers has also been heavily linked with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He apparently spent six hours at the team’s facility last Friday.

Schefter reported that it was “a positive visit and the two sides will stay in touch.”

Rodgers was handed a prestigious award over the weekend.

He was named as the North Valley Philanthropist of the Year.

The Chico native has made seven-figure donations to help wildlife recovery and Covid-19 small-business funds.

Rodgers said, “I really appreciate this. I’m just trying to do my best to help out.

“I’ve been really blessed in this life and my goal is just to give back.

“I know there are so many people in the crowd tonight who are doing the same thing, every single day.

“This award means a lot to me but I share it with all of you as well and my beloved Butte County and Chico, California – always near and dear to my heart.

“Have a beautiful night. I’m going to keep on helping out and I hope you do, too.”
