Meghan Markle’s latest venture, a show on Netflix called With Love, Meghan, has been compared by fans to Pamela Anderson’s lifestyle show as well as Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop brand.
Now, Paltrow is giving her take on Markle’s program, even though she admits that while she’s “met Meghan, who seems really lovely,” she doesn’t “know her at all.”

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Paltrow opened up about her Montecito, Calif. neighbor’s lifestyle program, which has been compared to Goop for its health and wellness focus.
“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” Paltrow told the outlet. “I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”
Though the brands operate in similar spaces, Paltrow said when “there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them,” a marked difference from Martha Stewart’s 2014 comment about Goop, in which she said, “If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”
While Paltrow’s celebrity status has undoubtedly helped elevate her brand into the cultural zeitgeist, it’s a double-edged sword. She noted that negative coverage of her as a celebrity “can impact sales.”
“It used to be, ‘We can take shots at these models or movie stars ’cause it’s fun to read,’” she said, but “if it’s not true and you’re creating a negative perception about any one of our businesses, what’s your responsibility there? It’s different than just saying, ‘Look at this gross picture of Gwyneth on a beach on vacation.’”
