Texas A&M basketball flight delayed due to gas leak, per report

Texas A&M did not fly to Denver for its first-round NCAA Tournament game on Monday, as was originally planned.

The Aggies have been delayed due to a gas leak near the airport, according to a report. That’s per Travis Brown of KBTX Sports, who says the Aggies will instead travel to Denver on Tuesday. Brown cites a team spokesperson in that report:

The Texas A&M men's basketball team was unable to leave Easterwood to travel to Denver due to the gas leak that occurred at Harvey Mitchell and Raymond Stotzer today. Departure bumped till tomorrow, per a team spokesperson.

According to a report from FOX 44 on Monday afternoon, southbound lane exit lanes on Harvey Mitchell Parkway were shutdown as crews worked to contain the leak.

Texas A&M isn’t scheduled to play until Thursday, so there’s still plenty of time for the Aggies to get to Denver and acclimate to the altitude before suiting up against 13th-seeded Yale. Per a report from TexAgs, Yale is also waiting until Tuesday to travel to Denver — so Texas A&M won’t be at a disadvantage compared to its opponent. Still, it’s not an ideal start to the week for an A&M team who will be under a lot of pressure against the Bulldogs on Thursday.

Yale is already proving to be a popular upset pick amongst college basketball fans. The Bulldogs pulled off a similar upset a year ago, beating Auburn in Round 1.

Texas A&M and Yale are set to tip off at 7:25 p.m. ET on Thursday night.
