The IPL 2025 season is about to begin in just a few days and the teams are in the final rounds of their preparations. Amidst all these preparations, Punjab Kings batter Shashank Singh has picked his favorite IPL captain.
Surprisingly, he didn't name MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli among his favorites but instead decided to pick Rohit Sharma. Shashank Singh revealed that he always wanted to play under the leadership of Rohit and is in awe of his captaincy.
Shashank also named his all-time favorite IPL Playing XI which included just two foreign players. However, the team still looks unbeatable and it includes some of the best players of all time.

During a podcast on 'Shubhankar Mishra' YouTube channel, Shashank Singh was asked to name his best IPL captain among MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma. Shashank had no hesitation in taking Rohit's name and also revealed the reason behind it.
"Rohit (Sharma) bhai because as I just said that I want to play under him. Mahi (MS Dhoni) bhai is obviously there but I think that he will retire after some time. Rohit bhai might prolong his IPL career a little more," Shashank said.
All three players, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli are also the three most successful captains in the history of the IPL. As a captain, Dhoni and Rohit have a win percentage of 58.84 and 55.06 respectively.
Meanwhile, Kohli is the third most successful captain in the IPL with a win percentage of 48.95. Both MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma have led their respective teams Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles each which is a record in itself.
Shashank Singh's all-time favorite IPL Playing XI
In the same podcast, Shashank Singh also picked his all-time IPL XI which includes some of the best players to have played the league in the past. Shashank picked Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma to open the batting. Virat Kohli was also picked as the undisputed No. 3.
The middle order consists of Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers, both of whom were terrific during their prime. As expected, the PBKS batter picked MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya for the finishing roles at No. 6 and 7 respectively.
Shashank picked the legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal as the premier spinner of his team and the lone one as well. He picked Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga as the side's two premier fast bowlers. Surprisingly, Sandeep Sharma also made it to this list as Shashank labeled him as an "underrated bowler".

Shashank Singh was retained by Punjab Kings for INR 5.50 crore after he had a brilliant season in IPL 2024 with the bat. Shashank emerged as one of the shining lights for his team last season in a disappointing campaign for them.
Punjab Kings will play their IPL 2025 opener against Gujarat Titans on March 25 at Ahmedabad. The IPL 2025 will begin on March 22 with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders facing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament opener at Eden Gardens.
