2025 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championship

March 11-15, 2025 IU Natatorium — Indianapolis, IN  SCY (25 Yards)  Defending Champions:  Women: Nova Southeastern (2x) Men: University of Tampa (1x) Women’s Psych Sheets Men’s Psych Sheets Live Results  Live Stream Recaps: Finals: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 Prelims: Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5

For those unfamiliar with swimming terminology, the concept of “Ups” and “Downs” is a good way to track which teams performed best during prelims. In prelims at the SEC Championships, swimmers qualify for one of three finals: the top eight finishers make the ‘A’ final (Ups), places nine through 16 make the ‘B’ final (Mids), and places 17 through 24 made the ‘C’ final (Downs). In finals, swimmers are locked into their respective final, meaning a swimmer in the ‘B’ final can only place as high as 9th or as low as 16th, even if they swim the fastest or slowest time of the event in any final.

With that in mind, we track “Ups”, “Mids”, and “Downs” after each prelims session.

This team race has been one of the most exciting things we are watching this week, and it will all come down to tonight. Based on prelims performance and relay seeds, Drury and Nova S’eastern would be exactly tied at the end of the evening. This is not including the mile, where Nova has a swimmer in the final and Drury does not.

Yesterday, Drury far outperformed their morning, and while they have little room for improvement in the 200 breaststroke, their 200 backstroker could move up her placement quite a bit, narrowing that gap for no mile swimmers.

Nova has a lot of space to move up, putting seven swimmers into finals in all three events.

Ultimately, it is very likely it will all come down to the relay and who performs the best there.

While the women’s race is just getting closer, it seems like Drury has the men’s team title basically locked down, pending major mistakes or disqualifications this evening.

Based on our projections, with no mile, Drury comes out a little under 60 points ahead, while Tampa is going to get a huge bump from diving, it probably won’t be enough to pass Drury and hold onto their team title.

The battle for 3rd is still undecided as our projections have McKendree coming in six points ahead of Indy, but Indy has a stronger finals presence and can find places to move up and potentially make up those points.

The men also have a diving event this evening that will impact team scores.
