The Prime Minister is set to meet leaders from Nato, the EU and further afield in a bid to bolster support for a ‘coalition of the willing’ to help Ukraine.
Before today’s virtual meeting, Sir Keir Starmer hit out at Vladimir Putin, accusing the Russian president of showing a disregard for Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal.
Around 25 countries are expected to be involved in Saturday’s call, including European partners, Ukraine and leaders from Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The Prime Minister will convene the meeting of global leaders after another frantic week of diplomacy aimed at getting Russia to back a 30-day ceasefire.
Starmer has accused Vladimir Putin of delaying tactics and of being “not serious about peace” after he rejected plans from Donald Trump’s US administration and Ukraine for a 30-day ceasefire.
Today’s virtual call is expected to delve into how countries can help Ukraine militarily and financially as well as gauging support for any future possible peacekeeping force.
“If Russia finally comes to the table, then we must be ready to monitor a ceasefire to ensure it is a serious, and enduring peace,” Starmer is set to tell leaders, in remarks released by his office ahead of the meeting.
“If they don’t, then we need to strain every sinew to ramp up economic pressure on Russia to secure an end to this war.”
