Michael Douglas Shares Bold Political Statement

Michael Douglas took to Instagram on Tuesday, March 11, to share his thoughts on the current state of the world and look back at some of his classic films.

“Hello friends, I haven't seen you in a long time,” he said in the video clip. “I feel like a bear in hibernation, and I’ve have come out and it's like a new world out there,” he added before asking, “We’re allies with the Russians? I thought they've been trying to destroy us for the last 75 years.”

After getting that off his chest, the Wall Street star reflected on some of the films he’s been involved in over his decades-long career.

“Anyway, I just wanna blow my own horn for a second,” said Douglas, who is sporting grey hair and a grey quarter-zip pullover on top of a black T-shirt. “This year it is the 50th anniversary of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. written by Ken Kesey--the book, he was the author--and directed by Miloš Forman. Lovely movie. If you haven’t had a chance to read the book or see the picture, I would really encourage it.” Douglas was a producer of the 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson.

He also pointed out that Wonder Boys, which he starred in, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. He shouted out writer Michael Chabon and director Curtis Hanson. “It’s one of my particular favorites and is not seen by that many people,” he added.

“So, if you feel like reading a couple of good books and then seeing a couple of good movies, Cuckoo’s Nest and Wonder Boys couldn’t be worse.”
