Keeping it Classy, San Diego

From April 5th until April 9th, San Diego will be hosting The AI Show @ ASU+GSV and the ASU+GSV Summit, which Forbes has called “the Davos of Education.”

The North Star since the beginning of the Summit has been to give everybody an equal opportunity to participate in the future … the foundation of which is universal access to quality education. In a global marketplace and knowledge-based economy, what you know — your education — makes the difference for an individual, a company, and, for that matter, a country.

Over the five days, we’ll host 1,000+ dynamic EdTech companies representing 110 countries from around the world. Keynote speakers will include three former Secretaries of Education; three current governors; and leaders from finance, business, philanthropy, and technology. This year’s Summit also has an enhanced focus on workforce and enterprise learning leaders, with a robust program that explores economic mobility, employee upskilling and development, and workforce innovation in this new AI-augmented world.

The theme for 2025 is “Learning at the Speed of Light,” which reflects both the potential and perils of the Artificial Intelligence Revolution. AI is like air… it’s invisible, it’s ubiquitous, and you are going to need it to live. The AI Show at the Convention Center is free, with 100+ exhibits showcasing the most dynamic AI EdTech businesses transforming the world as we know it. See the future of learning in action during live demos; learn from 200+ innovative educators, administrators, and students who are pioneering AI in their communities; join interactive workshops with industry experts; and so much more.

You might ask why an event co-hosted by Arizona State University convenes in San Diego. The answer is that, given the scale and significance of what the Summit has become, it needed a city that could support its stature. To wit, for the past 10 years in a row, ASU has been ranked “the most innovative” university in the United States, with a significant alumni base in Southern California … hence the opportunity to move out of the Phoenix region.

Other notable speakers this year include Andrew Ng. If you do a Perplexity search on “the most important person in AI,” the answer that comes back is “Andrew Ng.” Additionally, Wednesday night at the Rady Shell, we’ll have Sal Khan, who is arguably the most famous educator in the world. Sal’s Khanmigo is changing the game, providing all students and teachers the opportunity to have their own AI tutor. Closing the event will be tennis legend John McEnroe in a “court-side” interview, followed by a live performance by his Johnny Smyth band.
