Von Miller released by Buffalo Bills after 3 seasons with team

Von Miller has been released midway through his 6-year deal with the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills released Miller on Sunday. Parting with the former Texas A&M star is a financially motivated move by the team. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter notes that both sides are open to him returning for the 2025 season on a new deal.

    Bills are releasing pass rusher Von Miller, per sources. The release frees $8.4 million against the cap, but the team also is open to bringing him back.

    Miller, who turns 36 on March 26, played at Texas A&M from 2007-10. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos.

    Miller remained with the Broncos into the 2021 season before he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams. He has been part of two Super Bowl-winning teams with the Broncos (50) and the Rams (LVI).

    Ahead of the 2022 season, Miller signed a 6-year, $120 million contract with the Bills. Across a 13-year career, missing the 2020 season due to injury, Miller has played 186 regular-season games with 161 starts, recording 129.5 sacks. Last season, Miller was a 13-game starter for the Bills, missing 4 games due to suspension, logging 6 sacks.
