Tim McGraw is back with a new collaboration. The single “Paper Umbrellas,” featuring Parker McCollum, was released on Friday, March 7, and fans can’t get enough of it.
The song was originally featured on McGraw’s 2023 album Standing Room Only but has been revived with the guest shot by McCollum. It offers a twist on the country drinking song with the lyrics, “Paper umbrellas look good on top, but they won’t stop the rain.”

McGraw shared the news of the single’s release on his Instagram account with the multi-colored cover art and a message: “Had to have my friend Parker McCollum join me on this one! Listen to Paper Umbrellas (ft. Parker McCollum) out now on all platforms!!”
Fans were quick to weigh in with praise.
“Sounding as good as ever!” wrote one.
Another weighed in the comment, “It‘s so beautiful ?.”
One fan was a bit disappointed, though, perhaps failing to recognize that it’s a new version of the song. “You already had recorded that - thought you would release a new song!” they wrote.
“Paper Umbrellas” was written by Monty Criswell and Drake Milligan and is produced by McGraw and his long-time collaborator Byron Gallimore and Eric Masse.
McCollum is currently on the road with his What Kinda Man Tour in support of his current hit of the same name.
McGraw hasn’t announced any summer tour plans aside from his August 30 Field of Dreams show in Dyersville, Iowa. If the name of that venue sounds familiar it’s because it is the site of the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner.
McGraw is headlining the event in honor of his father, the late major league baseball star Tug McGraw on what would have been his 81st birthday. The elder McGraw died in 2004.
Other acts are expected to be added to the bill for the first-ever concert at the field, which will be an all-day event.
