Doja Cat breaks her silence on Oscars James Bond tribute after it’s slammed as ‘a mess’

DOJA Cat has broken her silence on the major backlash she received following her performance during the Oscars’ James Bond tribute.

The singer took to the stage for her rendition of Diamonds Are Forever sung by Shirley Bassey in the 1971 Bond movie starring Sean Connery – but her performance fell flat.

The Kiss Me More hit maker was widely criticised by viewers and fans for her off key singing, with many branding the whole performance as a “mess”.

Now, the 29-year-old has taken to Instagram to hit back at trolls and critics – explaining that her nerves got the better of her on the big night.

The singer admitted that the pressure of performing at such a high-profile event affected her ability to deliver her best performance.

In the post the Grammy award-winning artist showed off her Oscar looks in a stunning gold jewel encrusted dress and a iridescent leopard print dress.

In the caption, she penned: “Thanks to the Academy Awards and Vanity Fair for having me

“I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f*** for me. I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself.

“The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a b****h hit some flats.

“I can’t wait to do something like that again. What a blessing that was. I feel amazing about the whole thing. Bye.”

Halle Berry, 58, introduced the musical tribute to everybody’s “favorite spy” James Bond and its producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

On stage Doja was joined by singer Raye who took on Skyfall and Lisa of K-pop group Blackpink performed Live and Let Die.

Fans were not impressed by all three vocalists but it was Doja who received the brunt of the backlash which began to spread immediately after their performance.

One user commented: “DOJA CAT SOUNDED A F*****G MESS! SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE SNATCHED HER MIC!”

“Doja Cat does not have the vocal range to do that song justice tbh,” another said.

“Weird #JamesBond tribute…Doja Cat…you ain’t Shirley Bassey…where are Adele and Billie Eilish to sing their songs??? This actually awful…” a third wrote.

“Oh doja…let’s get some singing lessons,” an X user begged.
