Ever since Hoda Kotb departed the Today show, NBC mainstay Willie Geist has been popping by the morning show’s studios more frequently to jump into co-hosting duties alongside Jenna Bush Hager for the Jenna & Friends segment.
But after his recent interaction with another guest host went viral, the Sunday Today anchor is getting more than he bargained for, and it’s something that makes him “very uncomfortable.”

On the March 4 episode of the morning show, Jenna Bush Hager told Geist that, in the same way that The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal has been dubbed “the internet’s boyfriend” for his approachable charm, Geist is getting a similar title.
“Our team has pegged you now as ‘morning TV’s boyfriend,’” Bush Hager announced as Geist groaned.

“Makes me very uncomfortable,” he admitted as Bush Hager detailed his interaction with comedian Heather McMahan the previous week.
The podcaster, who did a week-long stay on the show, seemingly got a little nervous around Geist when he popped into a dressing room to say hello to her and Bush Hager.

In a video shared by Today on Feb. 27, Geist walked over to McMahan, who immediately got flustered and complimented him before saying that she wasn’t ready. “Oh my god, I’m wearing my slippers!” she exclaimed.
“Are we an item?” joked Geist. “Yeah, we kind of are,” said McMahan.
Geist admitted to Bush Hager on the March 4 episode that he and McMahan “had a moment,” at which point Bush Hager explained that the normally outgoing and gregarious comedian “saw you and she just shriveled up inside.”
Bush Hager proceeded to tease Geist about McMahan’s “crush” on him and read him some of the comments that fans left on the video, causing Geist to good-naturedly scoff at the praise being heaped on him.
He then admitted that he didn’t know the interaction with McMahan had been recorded and only found out when he got home and his wife told him about it.
“I don’t even quite know what it means to be morning TV’s boyfriend,” Geist told Bush Hager. “I guess it’s an honor to be in the company of Pedro Pascal.”
