Nick Jonas may have made it onto the Broadway stage when he was a small child, and sure, he snagged a Grammy nomination before he was old enough to vote, but that doesn’t mean every day is going to be a winner.
The “Jealous” singer recently took to social media to update his fans on a “humbling” situation that left him scrambling for a solution.

Jonas, who is preparing to play the lead in the first Broadway run of The Last Five Years, spoke directly to the camera as he told fans about what happened at the March 4 rehearsal for the musical.

He shared that while he was singing in front of his director, the show’s composer, his co-star, musicians, and various people from the crew, he was “supposed to jump onto this platform.”
But when he jumped, Jonas said he heard a ripping sound. “I’m like, ‘oh no,’ and I feel a cool breeze in a place you don’t want to feel a cool breeze,” he shared as he pulled away from the camera to reveal a pair of pants torn “the whole way down.”
“This is what happened to my pants,” he explained, holding up a pair of pants with a giant hole in the crotch held together by two safety pins. “They are not tight pants by any means, it just was the perfect spot in the position that I jumped up.”
Jonas said that he tried to duct tape the pants, but it “didn’t work.” Neither did the safety pins, as seen in the video, but “thankfully, the stage management department jumped over to Target and bought me some black shorts to finish rehearsals in,” Jonas continued, showing the black workout shorts he was wearing.
“That was my day. How was yours?” he concluded with a grimace.
“Not the two safety pins trying to hold them together ?,” commented one fan on Instagram as another teased that he was in rehearsals for Magic Mike.
“I thought you were gonna say you hit the note of the song wrong or something, I didn’t expect a rip down your pants ??,” said another commenter.
One fan tried to find the positive side of the situation, writing, “Honestly at the end of the day as humiliating and humbling it probably was, at least it was just your pants and not your legs or feet.”
