Pair of bald eagle chicks hatch in nest above Big Bear Lake ...Middle East

Two eagle chicks were resting in a nest high above Big Bear Lake Tuesday morning, March 4, after emerging from their shells overnight.

The chicks joined bald eagle pair Jackie and Shadow in the nest, which is livestreamed around the world via two web cams operated by Friends of Big Bear Valley.

According to the nonprofit, the first chick hatched its way out of its shell sometime before 11:26 p.m. Monday, when it was visible on the web came. The second chick was visible at 4:29 a.m. Tuesday.

A third egg in the nest has yet to show signs of a pip, or a crack during the hatching process.

The eaglets are the first two that have hatched in the nest since 2022, when bald eagle Spirit hatched and soared away.

Some of the eagle family’s hundreds of thousands of followers shared their excitement over the arrival of the two chicks Tuesday.

“Honestly this tiny piece of happiness in a world of dark was really needed,” one follower shared on a Friends of Big Bear Valley social media post. “I’m so happy and excited for the little eaglets! You can do it babies!”
