The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine is behind us. But before we turn our full attention to free agency, I wanted to share some Chicago Bears news, notes, nuggets, and tidbits from Combine Week.
Among the most noteworthy things to come from the NFL Scouting Combine is the list of players the Bears met with in Indianapolis. To be clear, prospect meetings at the Scouting Combine are about 20 minutes long, which doesn’t give teams enough time to go deep and get to the bottom of their meetings with a player who could be on their draft board. However, it’s not as if these meetings are inconsequential. With that being said, here are the most notable prospects the Bears reportedly had visits with in Indianapolis.
Chicago Bears meet offensive line prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine
In their quest to upgrade the offensive line, the Chicago Bears met with a bunch of notable prospects at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Will Campbell, LSU (The Sick Podcast With Adam Rank) — I’m not sure there is anything anyone can do to unseat LSU’s Will Campbell as the top offensive line prospect in this class.
There is a belief among some that Campbell might be destined to play guard because of his arm length. But the older I get, the less I care about measureables and the more I care about the ability to play ball. Don’t get it twisted. Measurables are important. We saw how Joe Thuney’s lack of length at left tackle for the Chiefs led to Josh Sweat’s dominant day in harassing Patrick Mahomes. Even still, I am on board with Campbell making his way to the Bears if that is how the chips fall in Round 1.

— The Sick Podcast with Adam Rank (@sickpodadamrank) March 1, 2025Josh Simmons, Ohio State (Greg Braggs Jr.) — Take it for whatever it is worth to you, but Mel Kiper Jr.’s most recent mock draft at ESPN has the Bears snagging the Ohio State offensive lineman in Round 1. We explored why Josh Simmons would make sense and why he is an intriguing candidate to be selected with the No. 10 overall pick. Since then, it has been reported that Simmons is “way ahead of schedule” in his recovery from the torn patellar tendon injury that took him out for most of the year.
If the Bears can plug some holes along the offensive line in free agency, it wouldn’t take much to talk me into being comfortable with the idea of Chicago choosing Josh Simmons with its first-round pick and using the 2025 season to get him up to speed before deploying him as the starting left tackle in 2026. We’ve got a while before we get to that bridge, let alone cross it. But I wanted to acknowledge the bridge’s existence while I had a moment.
THE LATEST 2025 NFL MOCK DRAFT IS HERE
Tyler Booker, Alabama (Nicholas Moreano) — On the one hand, using a top-10 pick on a guard would be an unsexy pick. But on the other hand, the Bears are not in a position to make sexy picks for the sake of doing so. Hence, I am open to the idea of the team using the No. 10 overall selection on Alabama guard Tyler Booker. A two-time first-team All-SEC player for the Crimson Tide the last two seasons, Booker ended his college career by getting a first-team All-American nod.
Should Chicago not fill all of its interior offensive line vacancies in free agency, Booker will be heavily connected to the Bears during the lead-up to the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mandatory Credit: Butch Dill-USA TODAY SportsOzzy Trapilo, Boston College (Justin Melo) — An offensive lineman who played collegiately at Boston College is someone you’d expect to be on the radar of Bears General Manager Ryan Poles, who was a BC Eagles offensive lineman who protected Matt Ryan back in the day. Trapilo, whose dad Steve played in the NFL, was a first-team All-ACC player last season and a second-team member in 2023. It is also worth pointing out that this is the second meeting for the Bears (and presumably, other teams) with Trapilo, who was at the Senior Bowl.
CHECK IT OUT: A Smattering of Offensive Line Thoughts
Grey Zabel, North Dakota State (The Sick Podcast With Adam Rank) — I don’t know if Grey Zabel is buttering up the Bears, but he did say he loved quarterback Caleb Williams. Perhaps Zabel can show how much he enjoys Chicago’s QB1 by blocking for him. But for that to happen, he’ll have to land in a spot for the Bears to draft him. After that, the Bears will have to pull the trigger and reel him in. Don’t let Zabel’s playing experience at the FCS level fool you. The North Dakota State prospect could be a strong fit at a number of different spots on the offensive line.
Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona (Khari Thompson) — The Bears are one of 17 teams that have met with Jonah Savaiinaea at the NFL Scouting Combine. A brief look into his profile makes it understandable why he generates so much interest. In October, an ESPN NFL insider’s mock draft had Savaiinaea pegged as a Bears first-round pick. However, more recent mock drafts have him landing as a Round 2 pick. The way I see it, If this team can snag a prospect with first-round potential on Day 2, then I’d be all for it.
