KFC was founded in 1952 in Corbin, Kentucky by Colonel Harland Sanders and is high on the list of top fried chicken joints among rivals such as Popeyes.

Frequently compared to its competitor, KFC has faced consistent support from loyal fast foodies.

“Prisoners of hype kill me. KFC has been better than Popeyes,” raved one fan on X.

“Way better I will always get KFC over Popeyes,” agreed another.

    CHICKEN CHANGES

The beloved chicken chain is working to strengthen customer loyalty even further and reinvent itself with five exciting changes this year.

    1. Moving Headquarters

One of the changes KFC has slated for 2025 is moving its headquarters from Louisville, Kentucky after nearly three decades to Plano, Texas.

KFC will still maintain some corporate offices in Louisville and even plans to establish a flagship restaurant there.

The shift will bring the chicken chain closer to the headquarters of Pizza Hut, which is also a subsidiary of Yum! Brands.

Having the two brands closer to one another will make collaboration and streamlining operations simpler.

    2. A New Kind of Meal

Another change KFC fans can expect this year is the fast food chain’s innovative transformation of classic sides into meals.

The chain launched its Bowl lineup in January, with returning favorites such as the Famous Bowl and new tasty options like Nashville Hot Loaded Fries Bowl.

The $5 bowls are a quick and filling option that provide the whole KFC experience in a single entree.

    3. Spicy Collaboration

KFC has collaborated with Mike’s Hot Honey, an American food company, to bring fans a limited-time spicy twist on the chain’s chicken.

The fast food chain is rolling out its chicken tenders drizzled with the beloved sweet and spicy honey to kick up the heat.

KFC is also launching a $25 Fan Favorites Box, which includes four pieces of Mike’s Hot Honey-drizzled bone-in chicken, a 12-piece order of nuggets, Secret Recipe fries, four biscuits, and a choice of four sauces.

“Combining KFC’s flavorful fried chicken with the bold, sweet heat of Mike’s Hot Honey just makes sense,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, KFC’s chief marketing and development officer, in a press release.

“Crispy, juicy, salty, spicy, sweet – it’s food alchemy that’s meant to be!”

    4. New Restaurant Prototype

The beloved fried chicken chain is testing a new approach to its restaurants’ aesthetics and operations,

The company has tested its KFC Original prototype at 16 restaurants in Orlando, Florida, featuring a simplified menu and revamped layout to encourage quicker and more efficient service.

Order accuracy at the locations has seen a 60% increase, guest satisfaction has risen 41%, and service speed has spiked by 30%, per Nation’s Restaurant News.

Thanks to the positive results, KFC planned to convert six Dallas locations to the prototype last month.

    5. Tech Upgrades

KFC is working to make its restaurants more tech savvy this year, bringing self-order kiosks to more than 1,000 locations.

The chain is also rolling out an app for staff to help simplify back-of-house operations by assisting employees with managing orders, tracking inventory, and coordinating teams.

KFC hopes the app will help the kitchen run smoother and in turn translate to a more seamless customer experience.

Other restaurants similarly have changes in the works.

For example, Olive Garden has “finally” rolled out a huge change to all 900 restaurants after 43 years – but you must check your zip code.

Meanwhile, Denny’s has launched its spring menu that will come to all restaurants – but it’s not just five new meals you can try.
