A DRIVER who took a Harley Davidson on a 12,000-mile ride praised the bike’s powerful engine – but singled out a frustrating issue.
The bike’s engine packed a punch, delivering smooth acceleration and a raw, thrilling roar.
The Harley-Davidson CVO Pan America had powerful acceleration from low to high speeds.
It also slowed down quickly, making it easier to control on rough roads, according to Motor Cycle News.
The suspension worked well on all kinds of roads, from rocky trails in the Alps to sandy paths in Suffolk and even a daily 100-mile drive, the rider said.
The seat was very comfortable, making long rides easy, even a 1,025-mile trip in less than 24 hours.
The adjustable windscreen offered protection from the weather, though it didn’t quite match the comfort of rivals like the BMW GS.
Visually, the Pan America turned heads. Its aggressive fairing and stance had more of a 1960s muscle car vibe than the bulkier 70s-style adventure bikes.
But not everything about the bike was flawless.
The lack of a standard 12V accessory point annoyed the driver, forcing them to use an adapter or wire gear directly to the battery.
Using the kickstand was harder than expected, which was a small but annoying issue.
But the most troubling issue was the random drop-out of the fourth gear during hard acceleration.
Though rare, it is enough to shake drivers’ confidence.
Despite these flaws, the driver found the CVO Pan America a reliable and thrilling companion over thousands of miles.
Its brute strength, plush suspension, and all-day comfort made it a solid choice for both weekend escapes and epic journeys.
According to the driver, there were occasional gear hiccups, but the overall performance left a lasting impression.
While the Pan America isn’t without its quirks, its power and presence make it a standout in Harley’s lineup.
