Woman loses $80k after unexpected text about job – she got first paycheck then found glaring issue on bank account

A VICTIM had $80,000 unexpectedly wiped from her account after getting a text about a job.

The woman revealed she got her first paycheck but a glaring issue meant she lost thousands of dollars.

This victim, from Ohio, said her horror story started when she was sent a text from someone who claimed to be from a legitimate company.

The message asked if she was looking for any online jobs that could be worked part-time or full-time.

Looking to make some more cash, the Ohio woman responded to the message and was offered a remote digital marketing job for a company based in Australia.

She received a WhatsApp message, a few days later, from someone who claimed to be from this company’s HR department, according to Fox 8.

The victim said: “And then she said, I will make $500 salary from the company in 10 days… $1,500 in 20 days… and $3,000 in a month.

“Which really happened in the first five days, I made $1,500 and they transferred all the money to my account.”

The victim revealed the first red flag that arose during this soon-to-be scam.

She said the company wanted to pay her using cryptocurrency and not a traditional method like bank account deposits.

The victim added: “I asked, ‘Why are you using cryptocurrency?’

“She said, ‘We have users from all over the world, so each country has their own, you know, currencies. It’s more convenient for everyone.’ And I said ‘Okay.’”

The victim said she went along with it because she did not understand the potential dangers of digital money but $80,000 was then quickly wiped from her account.

She explained why it would be particularly hard for her to get her cash back this scam.

The woman said: “With crypto, the thing is that you can’t reverse your money back. Yeah, it’s gone.”

    MONEY GONE

This has not been the only shocking fraud case to recently rock an American’s accounts.

A retired police sergeant lost all of her life-savings after someone attempted to impersonate her.

$80,000 was shockingly wiped from her bank account.

White said: “I worked my butt off.

“I was the overtime queen at work. So all my overtime money went into my savings for my family.”
