Duke will be without guard Tyrese Proctor on Saturday when it hosts Florida State, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Proctor injured his knee on Wednesday when the second-ranked Blue Devils (25-3, 16-1 ACC) beat Miami. Duke coach Jon Scheyer labeled the injury as a bone bruise and said there was no structural damage. Proctor is expected to return this season, but with the Blue Devils cruising to a regular-season ACC title, they can afford to give him time.
“Basically, it’s about his pain tolerance, and it’s about his movement and strengthening,” Scheyer said on Wednesday. “We’ll be very cautious with that and smart. I don’t want to give an exact timetable because it depends on how we can get him moving over the next days or weeks or however long it takes. But we’re going to get him back, which is the most important thing.”
Proctor has started in all 28 games for the Blue Devils this season. In 29.1 minutes a night, Proctor has averaged 11.8 points per game to go along with 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
With Proctor limited to just 14 minutes against the Hurricanes, Isaiah Evans saw an uptick in playing time. The 6-foot-6 guard played a season-high 26 minutes and scored 16 points.
Over his last 3 outings, Evans has nailed 13 of his 19 attempts from 3-point range while scoring 50 total points.
Tipoff against the Seminoles (16-12, 7-10 ACC) is set for 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network. Duke is a 22.5-point favorite, via ESPN Bet.
