It’s a shame (and also pretty surprising) that not all Spring Training ballparks are equipped with Statcast because I would have loved to have seen the Statcast data on Thursday’s behemoth home run by MLB Pipeline’s top catching prospect, Samuel Basallo.

How far did Samuel Basallo’s monster home run travel?
Due to the Orioles’ Spring Training stadium not being outfitted with Statcast data collection, we don’t know how far that home run traveled, but I would take the over on 500 feet. Some quick Google investigating tells us that the center field wall at Ed Smith Stadium is 400 feet. The scoreboard is just to the right of the batter’s eye in right center field, which is listed at 374 feet.

Yeah, I’m taking the over on the 500-foot over/under on that one.
