76ers star Paul George announces pause to podcast during nine-game losing skid to ‘get my body right’

PHILADELPHIA 76ers star Paul George has decided to suspend his podcast.

With the 76ers’ season going off the rails, George thinks it is time to focus on basketball.

George announced on Wednesday’s episode of Podcast P that the show will take an indefinite break while the Sixers struggle.

He signed with the team on a four-year max contract this offseason, but has regressed heavily.

The 2024-25 season has been George’s worst scoring season in over a decade.

The 76ers sit at 20-38 after having visions of a championship run before the season started.

“It’s no secret that this season is, up to this point, it hasn’t been what we envisioned,” George said.

“I know my goal when I first signed with Philadelphia was to bring a championship to these amazing fans here.

“I still remain positive about that, and that is still the case and where I’m coming from.

“With that being said, though, I want to let the Podcast P family know that after today’s episode… I plan to take a break from the pod just to focus on getting my body right, getting mentally right, and help this squad make a push toward our goal to finish the season out and give ourselves a chance to be in contention to compete for a championship.”

Hilariously, the Sixers lost their first game after George’s podcast announcement.

The team fell 110-105 against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.

Philadelphia is missing multiple stars, with rookie Jared McCain going down early with a knee injury.

The team is now considering shutting down Joel Embiid for the remainder of the season.

He might need knee or hip surgery that would be more advantageous to get done sooner rather than later.

With things in such shambles for the Sixers, NBA fans are having fun laughing at George for trying to get serious after the season is basically over.

    New rights deal

The NBA signed an 11-year deal with three networks for the league's rights from the 2025-26 season.

And there will be no games on TNT for the first time since the network launched in 1988.

The Walt Disney Company will continue to show the league with 80 regular-season games across ESPN and ABC.

They will also show around 18 playoff games from the first and second round, a Conference Finals series for 10 of the 11 years, and remain the home of the NBA Finals.

NBC will return as an NBA broadcaster for the first time since 2002.

The network will show up to 100 games per season across it’s channels and Peacock streaming service.

It will also be the home of NBA All-Star and show approximately 28 playoff games from the first and second round.

NBC will show one Conference Finals Series for six of the 11 years, rotating with new broadcaster Amazon Prime.

Amazon will show 66 NBA regular-season games including one on Black Friday.

The streaming service is also the home of the latter stages of the NBA Cup and the entire Play-In Tournament.

Prime will also broadcast around one third of the playoff games in the first and second round.

“Paul George’s only task was to not be a bigger loser than Tobias Harris (the lowest the bar could ever be) and he couldnt even do that,” one fan said.

“Does Paul George know what team he’s on,” another fan said.

“It’s too late bro,” a third fan said.

“Might as well do the podcast full time at this point Philly not winning,” a fourth fan said.

“No worries champ you’ll be able to pod full time come April. That’s when the playoffs start,” a fifth fan said.
