POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
DRUG USE AT SKATE PARK: Caller at the Ukiah Skate Park reported at 9:22 a.m. Feb. 24 that a teen was smoking drugs. An officer responded and took a report for destroyed property.
PERSON BANGING ON WINDOWS: Caller at the Social Security Administration office on South Orchard Avenue reported at 10:51 a.m. Feb. 24 that someone outside was banging on the windows. Officers responded and reported that the person was “sent on their way.”
CAMPERS: Caller in the 1000 block of Cunningham Street reported at 11:51 a.m. Feb. 24 that people were camping there. An officer reported that the group had been contacted and were moving.
SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Rite Aid on South State Street reported at 2:24 p.m. Feb. 25 that someone had shoplifted. An officer responded and reported that the property was located and returned, and took a report for “use of restraints.”
BRANDISHING A WEAPON: Caller in the 900 block of North Oak Street reported at 3:03 p.m. Feb. 25 that someone was brandishing a knife. An officer responded and reported that no prosecution was desired.
DISTURBANCE: Caller in the 600 block of Live Oak Avenue, near Todd Grove Park, reported a disturbance at 8:20 p.m. Feb. 25. An officer responded, contacted those responsible and advised them of park hours.
TRESPASS: Caller at Cherry Street reported at 9:40 a.m. Feb. 26 that a woman with a cart and a dog was refusing to leave the Rail Trail. An officer responded and the person was contacted and advised.
SHOTS FIRED: Caller in the 400 block of North Spring Street reported at 4:46 p.m. Feb. 26 hearing shots fired. An officer checked the area and reported finding nothing of concern.
STUDENTS FIGHTING: Caller in the 900 block of Low Gap Road reported at 1:58 p.m. Feb. 26 that a large group of students was fighting. An officer responded and reported that the students were gone, and took a report of found property.
DANCING IN THE STREET: Caller in the 1200 block of Airport Park Boulevard reported at 6:01 p.m. Feb. 26 that someone was dancing in the roadway. An officer responded and reported that the person was gone.
CAR INTO FENCE: Caller at the intersection of Washington Avenue and South State Street reported at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26 that a possibly drunken driver had crashed into a fence. An officer responded and arrested Nicolas Martinez Lopez, 34, of Ukiah, on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail and the vehicle stored.
AGENCY ASSIST: An officer responded to the North Orchard Avenue bridge at 10:14 p.m. Feb. 26 to assist another agency and took a report for use of Narcan.
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Harvest Market on Boatyard Drive reported at 1:44 p.m. Feb. 24 that someone had shoplifted. An officer responded and took a report.
CAMPER: Caller in the 300 block of North Main Street reported at 8:13 a.m. Feb. 25 that a “camper was in front of the business.” An officer responded and reported that the person left upon request.
NEIGHBOR PROBLEM: Caller in the 500 block of North Franklin Street reported at 11:13 a.m. Feb. 25 having a problem with their neighbor. An officer advised the caller to seek a restraining order.
MISSING KIDS: Caller in the 400 block of North Harold Street reported at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 25 that her kids did not meet her at her car. An officer responded and reported that the children were “located and returned to their mother.”
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
