Michelle Trachtenberg's loved ones are grieving the Gossip Girl actress's death at the age of 39, including her boyfriend of more than five years, Jay Cohen. The Daily Mail spoke to the 63-year-old talent agent at Trachtenberg's Los Angeles home on Wednesday, Feb. 26, hours after she was found dead in her New York City apartment.
"The family will not be commenting on the tragedy," he reportedly told the outlet.

It seems the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress was still dating Jay Cohen — a talent agent with Gersh who represented Trachtenberg, at least at one time. The two were first linked in October 2020, with sources telling Us Weekly that Trachtenberg had been romantically involved with him for more than a year by then.
Although the pair kept a relatively low profile, they did post the occasional romantic message on Instagram. On the Fourth of July in 2021, for instance, Cohen captioned a photo with Trachtenberg, "Fireworks every day with this one."

On Valentine's Day this year, shortly before her death, Trachtenberg took to the social media platform to wish her beau a Happy Valentine's Day. "...[T]o the man who sits still long enough for me to paint his face," she wrote alongside a photo of them in costume as Jekyll and Hyde for Halloween. The timing of that post and Cohen's appearance at her house in Los Angeles suggests they were still together at the time of Trachtenberg's death.

Ashmore, 45, reacted to his ex's death on Instagram. “Incredibly sad to hear about Michelle’s passing,” he wrote. “She was an incredible person and I will always remember the years we spent together fondly. She was loving, quirky and would never pass up a law and order SVU marathon.”
He concluded by sharing his condolences to her mother, Lana, and sister, Irene. "This is an incredible loss!”
