DENVER (KDVR) — Two people were found dead from gunshot wounds inside a Thornton home that reportedly caught fire overnight.
On Wednesday at around 11:13 p.m., the Thornton Police Department told FOX31's Carly Moore on scene that officers were called to the 16000 block of Columbine Street. The neighborhood is north of East 160th Avenue.
Thornton police said in a press release that a 58-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man were found dead inside the home with apparent gunshot wounds.
FOX31 Newsletters: Sign up to get breaking news sent to your inboxMoore said neighbors also called law enforcement to report a fire at the house. Police said fire crews quickly extinguished the flames. There was no reported damage from the outside of the home.
Fire investigators determined the fire was intentionally set, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
While this investigation is still developing, Thornton police said there is no threat to the public.
Moore will be on scene all morning long to learn more about the cause of the fire, the shooting and if police are looking for any suspects.
