GREG Olsen took to social media to pass on an emotional message to his NFL hopeful nephew.
Olsen, 39, spent 13 years in the NFL as a tight end and is hoping that his nephew, Blake McCullough, can follow in his footsteps in the future.
McCullough, 14, has high hopes and ambitions to make it in the league and has been honing his craft as quarterback at high school level.
The teenager was one of six QB’s from his graduating class of 2028 to be invited to take part in the Under Armour Next Camp in Orlando, Florida.
The camp aims to find the best talent from across the US and gives them a chance to showcase their abilities.
And it wasn’t just the eyes of potential D1 schools watching the camp, but also McCullough’s uncle Greg Olsen.
Olsen took to X to congratulate his nephew and leave an emotional message that simply read: “Proud of my nephew”.
McCullough, who is playing out of Bishop Moore Catholic, has been identified as a D1 prospect despite being over three years away from graduating.
Taking to X himself, McCullough wrote: “Had a great time at the UA Camp being able to compete against the best in Orlando!”.
The aspiring pro QB is still some way off reaching the NFL, and will have full focus on securing a spot at a top college first.
Uncle Olsen spent three years at the University of Miami before heading into the league as a first round draft pick.
And McCullough will always have the three-time Pro Bowler to lean on, explaining in an interview with 247Sports that Olsen is regularly pushing him to improve.
He said: “I don’t know how to even describe it. Like, I’m with him a lot because our families are super, super close.
“When we are on vacation, it’s not even vacation when you’re at his house. It’s like every day you’re working out, you’re grinding.
“I have two cousins who are boys. One of them is also a quarterback. So, like, me and him, we’re always throwing. We’re working out. We’re doing something to get better.
“He’s always trying to get us to work out. It’s like, every morning, he’s like, ‘what are you guys gonna do to get better today?’
“Of course, he’s really, really smart, and he understands the mental side of the game like no one else. So, you watch a game with him, and he can explain something unbelievably well compared to anyone else.
“He watches the game, and he sees things 99 per cent of the population won’t even come close to seeing.”
