Notre Dame-NC State women’s hoops game delayed by medical emergency in stands

As Notre Dame and NC State were beginning to take the floor for overtime on Sunday afternoon in Raleigh, a medical emergency in the stands delayed the action on the floor.

Not much information is known about the fan’s condition, but ESPN’s broadcast took a moment to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation while medical personnel tended to the fan.

“You have an extended delay here where, obviously, the game is put in perspective when somebody is dealing with something having to do with real life,” Ryan Ruocco said on the broadcast.

Analyst Rebecca Lobo also commented on the situation.

“I think the Notre Dame players were just kind of alerted to the serious nature of it,” Lobo said. “You saw them get into a huddle and it looked like they were saying a prayer with one another … Who cares about overtime? I mean, both of these teams do, but there’s some stuff going on up there.”
