The 2025 NFL Combine kicks off this upcoming week. So let’s preview the event through the Jacksonville Jaguars’ lens, starting with the quarterback position.
For a deeper dive into the combine specifically and what you need to know from the Jaguars’ perspective, click here.
What’s the need for the Jaguars at quarterback?
Obviously, with Trevor Lawrence at the helm, there is no need in that regard. However, quarterback will be a position that we see the Jaguars address in some capacity this offseason.
At the moment, the only quarterbacks under contract for the 2025 season are Lawrence and John Wolford.
With 10 selections in this year’s draft, the Jaguars have the luxury of being able to address the quarterback position in the later rounds, while still being able to tackle other needs.
ESPN’s Michael DiRocco recently wrote that we shouldn’t rule out the Jaguars using a later-round selection on the quarterback position.
When are the Jaguars picking the 2025 NFL draft?
Round 1: One pick (No. 5 overall) Round 2: One pick Round 3: Two picks Round 4: Two picks Round 5: One pick Round 6: Two picks Round 7: One pick
The official draft order will be set once compensatory picks are finalized. The Jaguars are not projected to receive any compensatory selections this year.
Relative Athletic Scores and the Jaguars
With the NFL combine here, there is going to be a lot of RAS talk moving forward. So what is RAS?
The RAS formula–which was created by Kent Lee Platte–takes all of the measurements and times from the NFL Combine and Pro Days and converts them into an easily comparable figure that ranges from 0 to 10 to help us see how prospects stack up athletically.
On the RAS scale, 5.0 is considered average, with 8.0 or higher being in the top 20 percentile of the position group from an athleticism standpoint. The higher the RAS, the better the athlete.
With Trent Baalke no longer the GM and James Gladstone taking over, looking at the RAS of past selections doesn’t give us much insight. So instead. here is the RAS for quarterbacks taken by the Rams over the last few years:
Stetson Bennett: 8.20
