More than 500 students to perform at third annual Greeley Evans Elementary Choral Festival

A Greeley-Evans music teacher expects a sold-out show for the third annual Greeley Evans Elementary Choral Festival.

The Greeley Evans Elementary Choral Festival, also known as GEECFest, will showcase the talents of more than 540 students in third through fifth grade at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Union Colony Civic Center, according to event organizer Megan Nugent, a music teacher at S. Christa McAuliffe K8 STEM Academy.

Performing schools include Bella Romero Applied Academy of Technology, Chappelow Arts Magnet School, McAuliffe STEM Academy, James Madison STEAM Academy, Tointon Academy of Engineering and Jackson, Meeker, Maplewood, Monfort, Shawsheen and Scott elementary schools. The Summit Singers of the Greeley Children’s Chorale will also take the stage.

Students from each school will perform a piece of their own before all coming together for two songs at the end of the festival, Nugent said. Kris Pierce and Darlene James, retired District 6 music teachers who serve as Greeley Children’s Chorale directors, directed the final arrangement.

This event is presented by the Littler Youth Fund and the John W. and Delia Haefeli Funds at the Weld Community Foundation and Success Foundation, in partnership with the Greeley Children’s Chorale and Greeley-Evans District 6.

Community members can purchase tickets in person at the Union Colony Civic Center for $2.
