Buckle up, 9-1-1 fans, and grab your guitar! Creators Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear have announced a new spinoff for the drama set in Nashville.
With the original 9-1-1 currently in Season 8, it’s not surprising that another spinoff is in the works. 9-1-1 already spawned spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star, which recently wrapped its fifth and final season. Producers must believe the dedicated 9-1-1 fanbase is hungry for another team of emergency responders. Here's everything to know about 9-1-1: Nashville.

With details of 9-1-1: Nashville only recently announced, the filming dates–let alone premiere date–are unknown. However, when news of the spinoff first came out, Murphy told Variety that “we hope to get on the air next fall.” So, depending on how quick the turnaround is, we might get Nashville as soon as fall 2025. If not, it may be held for a midseason show in 2026.
9-1-1 spinoff set?
When the 9-1-1 spinoff was first announced, Murphy and company said they were seeking out greener pastures in the palm trees and picturesque beaches of Hawaii. However, the team ultimately settled on going to the South in Nashville. According to Deadline, one major reason why the show may have decided on Music City is because of a large tax credit allegedly offered to the production team.

The cast of 9-1-1: Nashville has yet to be announced. However, considering the talent both Lone Star and 9-1-1 proper have been able to bring in, including Angela Bassett, Rob Lowe, Peter Krause, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, our hopes are high!
9-1-1: Nashville
9-1-1: Nashville will air on ABC, although no date or time has yet been set. ABC shows typically stream on Hulu the following day, so you'll likely be able to watch the new show there as well.
9-1-1: Nashville will be written and executive produced by Ryan Murphy and Tim Minear, who co-created the 9-1-1 franchise. Also on board is Rashad Raisani, who has some experience with spinoffs, given they were the showrunner of Lone Star. Other executive producers include Brad Falchuk, who co-created 9-1-1 alongist Murphy and Minear, as well as flagship star (and Lone Star EP) Angela Bassett.

9-1-1 are there?
9-1-1 is currently on its eighth season, which kicked off on Sept. 26, 2024. Considering how many cop/firefighter/doctor-type shows have been put out there, that’s a pretty impressive run. 9-1-1 specifically combines several of these genres to include all first responders, and viewers get to see dispatchers and EMTs, too.
Its first six seasons aired on Fox before the show switched over to ABC. ABC is also the network that the new spinoff will air on, although 9-1-1: Lone Star premiered on Fox and has stayed there through its five-season run.
9-1-1: Lone Star canceled?
9-1-1: Lone Star is airing its fifth and final season now on Fox. The show first aired in 2020 as a spinoff of 9-1-1. While the original is set in Los Angeles, Lone Star follows first responders in the city of Austin, Texas.
According to Ryan Murphy, Lone Star was canceled because “the financials just didn’t work. It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. And we had a long run of it.”
Rob Lowe, who stars in Lone Star, told Variety in August that the cast knew it would be the last season going into it. “We wanted to really show everybody what is still possible in network television if people have the appetite to do it,” he said. “It feels like it’s probably the end of an era of a certain type—well, it doesn’t feel like it. It is the end of an era of a certain type of show we once had an opportunity to make, and I think they’re great. We wanted to go out making our case for the value of shows like that, and I think we did a really good job. The stories that we were able to tell on a weekly basis in terms of the scope and scale—that’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of. They were truly like mini-movies every week.”
