ESPN projects bold offseason move for Jaguars

What “bold” moves do the Jacksonville Jaguars potentially have up their sleeves this offseason?

After a four-win season with a new head coach and a soon-to-be new GM taking over, there are a few different directions the Jaguars could go here.

Aaron Schatz of ESPN recently put together his bold projections for a number of NFL teams this offseason, including the Jaguars.

So, when it comes to free agency or the draft, what move(s) does Schatz believe Jacksonville could make?

Draft a tackle at pick No. 5.

“(Walker) Little and (Anton) Harrison haven’t been great,” wrote Schatz. “Little ranked 54th out of 66 qualifying tackles in pass block win rate (84.8%) in 2024. Harrison was 60th (83.1%). Little was above average in run block win rate (77.8%), but Harrison (71.7%) was below average for that metric. Improvement at tackle, especially on the right side, would be a big step forward for new coach Liam Coen.”

Head coach Liam Coen was direct during his introductory press conference in saying that the Jaguars’ offensive line play has to improve in 2025.

Of course, time in the pocket is a must for the quarterback, but when it comes to turning this offense around, as we saw in Tampa Bay in 2024, having a strong run game presence to lean on will be crucial as well.

If the Jaguars are going to draft an offensive tackle at fifth overall, that most likely would be LSU’s Will Campbell, who could potentially play guard as well, which is a more pressing need for Jacksonville currently with Brandon Scherff set to be a free agent.

Campbell could compete with Harrison for the starting right tackle spot, and if it makes sense to move Campbell to right guard or Harrison–as Schatz mentions–then that position gets a boost as well.

In addition to Campbell, Schatz also brings up Texas offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. as an option at pick No. 5, although that could require the Jaguars to trade down from a value perspective.
