EMERYVILLE — A suspect was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that left a pedestrian in critical condition Wednesday afternoon in Emeryville, according to authorities.

The driver did not stop at the scene.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she remained in critical condition Thursday.
Officers used license plate reader cameras to track down the suspect’s vehicle and a picture of the driver, police said. The vehicle was later found unoccupied in Oakland.
Officers kept the vehicle under surveillance and took the suspect into custody when he returned to it around 7 a.m. Thursday. He was identified as a 40-year-old Oakland man.
After the suspect was identified in video surveillance footage and interviewed by detectives, he was booked into the Santa Rita Jail on a hit-and-run charge, police said.
The suspect is set to be arraigned Monday at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse, according to jail records.
