Survivor Winner Rachel LaMont Joins Official Podcast On Fire with Jeff Probst

Another season of Survivor is upon us. And alongside it comes "On Fire," the official podcast of the hit CBS reality series. At this point, it's now requisite for host and executive producer Jeff Probst and podcast producer Jay Wolff to bring on a new alumni every season. And for the upcoming 48th edition, they've tapped a recent history-maker: Season 47 winner Rachel LaMont. The announcement came as part of a trailer for the podcast's fifth season. In the four-minute clip, host and executive producer Jeff Probst officially welcomed the audience to "On Fire," which provides a producer, fan, and player perspective on the latest episode of Survivor. The show began during Survivor 44 in 2023 before bringing in a rotation of alumni for every following season. The third chair so far has been occupied by Season 38 standout Rick Devens, Season 45 winner Dee Valladares, and most recently Season 46 runner-up Charlie Davis.

In the trailer, Probst sets up how high the bar has been with the previous players, and how there was no shortage of people to choose between from the standout group of people in the recently-aired Survivor 47."There were a lot of candidates," he explained. Each of them would hav brought something very different, different points of view. But for us, to be honest, the decision was pretty honest and very fast."Related: Everything to Know About Survivor 48

Probst then laid out Rachel's extensive resume from her 26-day game on Survivor 47. The ever-shifting power of the season left Rachel in the dark a few times, booting her closest allies in the process. But with what Probst describes as "the grace of an assassin," she was able to fight her way out of being backed into a corner in the latter portion of the game. After being saved by an advantage in a very unwelcome twist, she found an advantage of her own in a hidden immunity idol, which she used to great effect when she nullified every single vote save her own at the Final Six. Even when Rachel had all eyes on her, she was able to prevent them doing anything about it, winning four Individual Immunity challenges, tying a Survivor record for women. And so, while banking a game on challenges and advantages was not what the graphic designer had in mind when she entered the game, it still gave her a decisive victory in the end."I am so happy to be here," Rachel said excitedly on her podcast debut. "I cannot wait to dive into Survivor 48, share my thought son building relationships, navigating the individual and tribal game and, of course, managing advantages and twists, which you know I've got some experience with." Rachel commentating on Survivor 48 will be interesting on a number of levels. Not only can she speak from the perspective of having just played, perhaps even experiencing some of the same twists the 18 new players will. But she also has a unique connection to one particular castaway as, much like her, Shauhin Davari, who was an alternate for Season 46 alongside Rachel, will be getting his chance to shine. We'll see if he can keep up the streak that she began of alternates making good of their second chance in Fiji!Survivor 47 premieres Wednesday, Feb. 26 with a two-hour episode, and will air new episodes Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. on CBS. Episodes of the "On Fire" podcast will drop shortly thereafter.
