If you are wondering why the Chicago Bears haven’t made it officially official with Ben Johnson’s coaching staff, just know that you are not alone.
But if it makes you feel any better, there *IS* a perfectly acceptable reason why Chicago’s football team hasn’t dropped an official coaching roster post yet.
The Tribune’s Brad Biggs offers updates as the staff continues to come together:
#Bears have yet to release complete list of assistants on Ben Johnson's staff because it's likely not 100% finalized.Pierre Ngo is expected to be promoted to head strength & conditioning coach. He's been with the team for 8 seasons total in two stints, including last 2 years.
— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) February 18, 2025Kevin Koch, who was an assistant for the past 3 seasons and a defensive quality control coach in 2023 and 2024, is expected to remain with the #Bears as assistant linebackers coach.
— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) February 18, 2025Anthony Blevins, a former assistant for the Giants and Cardinals, is expected to be named as an assistant special teams coach for the #Bears. He is actually a Dr. Received a doctorate in Instructional Systems & Work Force Development from Mississippi State.
— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) February 18, 2025I fully expect the Bears to announce Ben Johnson’s first staff at some point next week during NFL Scouting Combine Week. The annual event hosted at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is often a hotbed for NFL news and rumors. Hence, it would make sense why an announcement could come next week. In the meantime, we can discuss who is currently on Johnson’s staff.
An early look at Ben Johnson’s first Bears coaching staff
These are the coaches who are officially on the staff and listed on the team’s official website:
Ben Johnson, Head coach Dennis Allen, Defensive coordinator Declan Doyle, Offensive coordinator Richard Hightower, Special teams coordinator Zach Cable, Offensive quality control Jim Dray, Tight ends Kevin Koch, Defensive quality control Noble Landry, Assistant strength and conditioning Pierre Ngo, Assistant strength and conditioning Kenny Norton III, Defensive quality control Robbie Picazo, Offensive assistant – quarterbacks and receivers Harrison Freid, Director of research and analysis Chavis Cook, Coaching administration managerNotable omissions from the list above include Dan Roushar, Antwaan Randle El, JT Barrett, and Kyle DeVan. Let the record show that I am not worried (not one bit!) about these omissions. Instead, I just wanted to point out the omission. We’ll have more when we get more names for the list.
