TESLA mogul Elon Musk has revealed he’s curious about the idea of a so-called Doge dividend.
The proposal refers to a check being sent to Americans from the money saved by the Department of Government Efficiency.
James Fishback, the CEO of Invest Azoria, said: “President Trump and Elon Musk should announce a ‘DOGE Dividend’—a tax refund check sent to every taxpayer, funded exclusively with a portion of the total savings delivered by DOGE.”
Musk spearheads the Department of Government Efficiency and is tasked with around finding $2 trillion worth of savings.
Fishman explained there are 78 million taxpaying households across the US and revealed it would mean a $5,000 rebate each.
“This is how we rebuild trust in our government,” he said.
Musk didn’t rule out the idea and said he was “curious.”
But he vowed to check with Trump first.
Doge has claimed it has found an estimated $55 billion – less than one month after Trump was sworn in.
The savings list was updated on February 17.
Scores of savings have been made in the Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, and the Department of Education.
If the payment came into force, it would arrive just years after millions received stimulus payments during the pandemic.
