(KRON) -- Police in San Jose are on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the Almaden Expressway. One person has been taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the San Jose Police Department.

Almaden Expressway is closed in both directions between Branham Lane and Hillsdale Avenue. It is expected to remain closed for several hours, according to SJPD. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
